The Secrets of Medjugorje will surprise the world and the Church
Although the Seers of Medjugorje know the day and time of each event of the Secrets, nothing has ever leaked about it. Obviously, the more time passes, the closer the beginning of the Secrets gets. But we cannot say more than that, except to try to guess. In these cases, however, denial and disappointment are always around the corner.
Our Lady gave a rule of great wisdom when, from the very beginning, she urged not to wait for the beginning of the Secrets to convert. In fact, in those dramatic moments, those who have a clouded mind and a heavy heart will have great difficulty in seriously converting.
What we can see as time goes by is instead a visible disaffection of the faithful who have responded to the call of the Gospa and this concerns first of all the theme of the Secrets. In recent years this cooling has been accelerating, despite the situation of the world becoming more and more dramatic.
Without exaggeration we can say that, at the announcement of the first secret, only a small flock will be ready to listen and believe, while around there will reign a general indifference, accompanied by manifestations of sarcasm and contempt.
In this regard, the parable of the foolish and prudent Virgins is very instructive and reveals the usual way in which Heaven intervenes in the affairs of this world. The history of salvation is full of these unexpected and surprising interventions, even when they had been clearly prophesied.
The flood surprises a world that mocks Noah who built an Ark to secure the future of humanity. “As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be also in the days of the Son of man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26-30)
The central event of the History of Salvation, the incarnation of the Word and his work of redemption have seen the faith of a few and met the incredulity and hostility of many. The Supernatural does not have a good reception on this earth and, as time goes by, the power of evil spreads. Satan does not give up and until the final “Enough” he pursues his perverse plans.
Jesus himself revealed that the final stage of history would see the most furious attack of the devil and anticipated it in prophecies that resound in the Gospels until the end of the world. How can we not reflect on the question that he himself asks and that makes us shudder. “But when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:8).
What Jesus reveals about his final coming can be referred by analogy to the first spiritual battle of the Apocalypse, the one our generation has entered and which prepares the time of peace. We are arriving at the decisive moment of the Secrets, when the glory of God through Mary will manifest its power, in a general climate of skepticism and contempt.
Only God knows, Our Lady said, how many believe and hope and will be able to enter through the door of salvation. For this appointment, as for the final one of our life, the words of Jesus are valid: “He who has persevered to the end will be saved”.
